As you know, I recently moved to a smaller space. The house was wonderful but I didn’t love living there enough to put up with the problems that come with a 40 year old home. To take off some the pressure that comes with downsizing, I set an intention and asked the Universe to show me what would be beneficial for me to take with me and what would be best gotten rid of.
To that end, David and I were very careful about keeping the boxes of the things we were keeping from the stuff that was going, but it seems that the Universe had other ideas. Now that the last of the boxes have been emptied, it seems that all of our certificates are gone. In addition to that, my angel tuning forks, some candle holders, and some crystals that I wanted to keep are all missing. A lot of this stuff cannot be replaced and it makes me sad, however, I am choosing to not focus on not having these things anymore.
This is what I’d like to talk to you about today. So many of you are so attached to your “stuff” that you forget you’re not your stuff and that your stuff does not make you who you are. For example, my Reiki Master Teacher Certificate is gone. Does that mean I am no longer a Reiki Master Teacher? Absolutely not. The fact that I don’t have the certificate anymore doesn’t change the reality that I am a Reiki Master Teacher and it doesn’t change the fact that I can still teach Reiki.
Sure, I liked looking at the wall in my healing room and seeing all the certificates I’ve accumulated over the years, but I can easily live without them. Do I miss my crystals? Sure, but I can connect with the energy of them whenever I want…even if they are not with me physically anymore. I can replace the other stuff if I want to, but actually, when I tune into the idea of it, I realize that I don’t really want or need to.
You don’t need “the stuff” to define who you are. You don’t need “the stuff” to keep you connected with a loved one. You don’t need “the stuff” to feel loved. All you need is yourself and your connection to your God/Goddess/ Universe….whatever name you apply to Divinity. When you have that connection, “the stuff” becomes the cherry on top of the sundae. The thing that makes your ice cream sundae just a little bit more yummy…instead of a defining component.
What can you do today to create and strenghten your connection to Divinity so you always feel safe and loved? If, you’re unsure, ask the Universe, “What can I do today so I can create, strengthen my connection with Divinity starting today?”
