Carl Jung’s entire life’s work is about how people don’t like to change.
They want to EXPERIENCE change, they just don’t want to have to DO anything to make it happen.
I get it.
I’m like that, too, in some ways. But I’m also self-aware enough to know that IF I do the work, I’m going to end up a better mother, a better wife, a better human, and a better ME when I do. So I hear myself whine. I acknowledge that I want an easier way, but then, I do the work anyway.
There was a time when I couldn’t create an Excel spreadsheet. David and I even laugh about it because I worked for him for a short time and he had to fire me because no matter what I did, I couldn’t do anything right in it. So, I stayed far away from them…not a good idea when you own a business.
But now, because I do the hard work every day of making different choices and pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I am able to create a spreadsheet that totals columns.
This may not sound like a huge accomplishment to you, but I defined myself by my inability to do create a spreadsheet and it trickled over in other areas of my life. It messed with my self-confidence. I decided that since I couldn’t do something so simple that I must not be smart enough to run a business, a good coach, an effective energy worker..despite results that proved otherwise..
So now, I’m no longer a person who needs to wear garlic in order to keep Excel away. Instead, I’m a woman who confronted a demon over and over, no matter how hard and painful it was (and it was painful -mostly due to negative self talk) and allowed herself to become a new person by giving herself permission to let go of the part of me that wore not being able to do excel like a badge of honor.
And I want that for you.
But what I want? Don’t mean SHIT.
Literally. I cannot want this for you.
YOU have to want it enough to clear the road, so you can start taking action. Easily. Well, more easily than you would if you sit behind your roadblocks.
