Do you wish you had more time?

Do you feel like “you don’t have the time” to do the things you say you want to do?

If you said yes, you need to know something.  Only in very rare cases is not having the time actually true.  If you were to look at the situation more deeply, you’d see that what’s really happening is you haven’t made what you want to do a priority.

You’ve put everything else in front of it and in front of you.

Now, sometimes, you have to put other things in front of it.  I mean if your dog is jumping up and down doing the pee-pee dance, you’re going to stop what you’re doing and take him out.

If your kid got into your makeup and she’s now drawing big red hearts on the walls with your lipstick, it’s probably a good idea to stop what you’re doing to keep her from damaging things further….and then again, maybe not.  Everything is already a mess…how much more time is going to take to clean things up if you let her go a little longer while you finish the task at hand?

You get the point.

Now, let’s say you’re freaking exhausted.  You worked all day, ran the kids around to all their activities, helped them do their homework, and cooked dinner.  You really, really want to take a  nice quiet bath so you can relax and regroup…..but there are dishes in the sink and the dishwasher is full.  You know that by the time you get all that done, you’re going to be too freaking tired to get in the tub.

So what do you do?  You clean up the kitchen, right?

Wrong.

Instead, you say fuck the dishes. No one is going to die or go hungry if you let the dishes sit in the sink overnight. Yeah, I get it. I hate waking up to dirty dishes too, but you’re freaking run-down, exhausted, and feel like you wanna cry. Having a bath should not be such a big deal.

So, take the freaking bath and get up 15 minutes earlier in the morning to clean the kitchen. Why? Because you need to relax or you’re going to freaking burn out and get sick. And then what’s going to happen to the dishes? Who’s going to run the kids around to their activities? And who’s cooking dinner?

It’s not the lack of time.  It’s not having your priorities straight.
